The most important decision you will ever make is written before you right here. This decision doesn’t just impact your every relationship going forward, it doesn’t just renovate your mental structure, it also impacts every moment of your future. You need to be able to answer this question:

Who is Jesus to you?

Then you need to decide whether you want him to be more.

The Bible says that as human beings our minds and hearts turn to disobedience to God. You know that rebellious feeling you got whenever your mom asked you to do anything as a teen? That is pretty much what we always naturally feel towards what God asks us to do. (Some of you are going to run away from this page because you don’t want to hear the rest of what God wants to show you.)

Because of this rebellious nature we choose to do what we feel like, the Bible says, “what is right in our own eyes.”(Judges 17:3, 21:25) When we do that we are selling ourselves into slavery to sin.

God wants to adopt us into his family, but we are slaves, so first he has to purchase us.

But the penalty for sin is death.

How could Father God bring us into his family, buy us back from sin? It would take someone else dying.

So that is what God did.

For you.

He died.

Jesus, the son of God, came to Earth as a man and lived without sin- he wouldn’t have ever died- but he chose to pay for our sins. He was tortured and abused and killed in the worst possible way. He paid the penalty for every sin ever commited, by every person who ever lived. He made a way for us to be adopted in God’s family.

So that is your decision. Do you want to be adopted into the family of God?

If you do then you basically tell God you want to trade. You want to trade your sin-filled mind and heart and life for his clean and pure one. You want to trade your death for his life. You want to trade being in charge of everything and let him be in charge of you. He is more loving and wonderful than any parent on Earth. He proved that when he sent his only son to die for our sins. Nothing can separate us from his love.(Romans 8:28-29). Not only that, but just as being in a new family changes the way you live, being in God’s family means you take on the way he is. His Spirit comes into you and helps you live differently. God says the one who lives like the Spirit wants them to shows a life filled with Love and Joy and Peace (Galatians 5: 22-24 )

My friend, my guess is that you are here at this blog because you don’t have peace.

You don’t have joy. You don’t know unconditional love.

But you can. Right now. You can make that decision. It starts with talking to God. I call that prayer.

Say something like this:

Father God. I know I am empty. I have been doing things my way and I am not happy. I want to do things your way, but I am afraid. I am afraid I will fail again. I am afraid you aren’t there and this isn’t real. But Father, I am going to take this first step of trusting in you. I ask you to adopt me into your family. I want to be yours. I know Jesus had to pay a terrible price for me to be free to not sin. Please take my life and make me into the person you made me to be. Amen.

You don’t have to use those words, there is no magic formula. Talk to God. He will listen always.
